How hard is it to trace a person with his party number? I have a name and number, which was issued around June 1942:
Richard Grandisch (8551403)
Heres hoping....again
Nazi Party Membership Numbers
Re: Nazi Party Membership Numbers
Hello Mailman,
It is sometimes difficult to trace somebody (I have been for the last 4 years). I had to ask to be helped by a German genealogist..
I would advise you to contact the Bundesarchiv with the name and maybe they would be able to provide you with some information on the career of your man. But when it comes to the party, you could also get the local branch where he signed his subscription.
Good luck,
Greg

Re: Nazi Party Membership Numbers
I just checked on the Volsbund website (in the section gräbersuche) and there is only one Richard Grandisch killed during WWII.
www.volksbund.de
Now is it your man ? That is not guaranteed. You can check with the birthdate : 02.03.1923. He is buried in Austria.
Hope it helps,
Greg

I'll keep trying...
