What's Hitler wearing?

#1

Post by jeffhan373 » 11 Jul 2013, 02:14

Can anyone confirm what tinnie Hitler is wearing here? I think it's for the Westfalen SA Treffen in Dortmund, on July 8-9, 1933.

I haven't seen too many photos of Hitler wearing day/event badges in general. He wore the 1933 Reichsparteitag badge during that event. Does anyone have photos of him wearing other tinnies?

Thanks, Andrey.

Any approximate date on this photo? It looks like it's from the Kampfzeit to me...

Andrey's photo is taken from Hoffmann's book 'Jugend um Hitler' and is captioned 'Farmer's children', but undated.
Here is another from the same book and captioned 'Spirirt of our spirit'. I have no idea what either of the 'tinnies' represent!

Thanks! Note that the boy and "Onkel Fuehrer" have different tinnies on.

Attached are a few more examples. The first one shows Hitler wearing his 1929 RPT badge at a funeral (in 1929) for a fallen SA man from Nuernberg. Also visible: Hess (in SS cap, wearing adjutant's collar patches) and Prince August Wilhelm.

The second one is from "Hitler wie ihn keiner kennt" and is presumably from the Kampfzeit. Both Hitler and Hess are wearing this tinnie, and Hess may have the 1929 RPT tinnie on as well.

The third one shows Hitler wearing some form of the Gau Essen badge/tinnie.

What I'm seeing is that he wore day badges etc. in the latter years of the Kampfzeit and in 1933. I haven't seen him wearing similar items for all the large NS events after he took power - the Reichsparteitage, the 1936 Weimar celebration, the Breslau sports fest of 1938, the 1933 Munich Festabzeichen, etc. I'll keep looking and would appreciate seeing photos of other badges in wear....

I like the IB photo! The guy behind Hess's left shoulder looks like Gustav Simon?

Here's another photo, taken at the 1927 Parteitag. Hitler is wearing the tinnie for this event above the button on his left pocket...
