There's also the famous picture/movie "hitler is dancing" when they are in France to signing the surrender of France in that train. In this clip/pic he is also smiling.

Pictures of Hitler smiling

I am not sure what compelled me to enter into this discussion but here I go anyway. Contemporaries of Hilter's frequently comment on the fact that Hitler was very conscious of the poor state of teeth (compare with the dentrustry work done on his teeth on the charts that survived the war). Contemporaries also refer to Hitler's halitosis. It is therefore not surprising that he seldom smiled or even opend his mouth in the company of others. jv

Hello all
These are some goofy pictures of him. Some I've never seen before and one I seen before.
Now with the germans not smiling, well I'm German-American and some of my german relatives smile and some don't. My american relatives smile more then my german side, lol. Well my great great opa smiled alot in his older days.

That's a good question, never notice that before. Wonder what it is?

IIRC, it is an honorary Corporal badge. (Corporals being, like Sergeants in other armies, the backbone of the Italian military. To be awarded such a thing was not at all an insult, nor was it meant to diminish the recipient's importance. On the contrary, it was intended as a praise-worthy honor. A badge of honor, so to speak.)

Thanks sylvieK4,,,funny thing that the award was a "Corporal", which was AH's rank in WWI.

Talk about a contrast in personalities, and look at the smiles here on this image. What a great photo of two totally different personalities!

Here's a larger version of a photo posted by Eckert in 2005. It is from the book: Adolf Hitler: Bilder Aus Dem Leben Des Führers. circa 1939:

Taken in Jägerndorf in Sudetenland (October 7, 1938). Göring is behind.

I attached some of 'mine', but these are only a few. If you like, I could post more of him smiling, just leave a comment or something like that ;) There´s a problem with my browser, I think. I don´t see all of the pictures, so it could be, that some of mine were already posted, sorry for that. :? Oh and one more thing about Germans smiling on pictures: I´m german and I don´t really think it´s true, that we never smile on photos, just portraits are a serious thing. :D

(wow, my first post...)

Edit: If the pictures are to big, please tell me, than I´ll post them as a link or as a file attachment.
