Gregor Strasser and foreign languages

#1

Post by Boby » 30 Jul 2017, 14:14

Question:

In Albert Krebs memoirs "The Infancy of Nazism" (p. 229) he claimed that Gregor used to read Homer in the original Greek.

There is any confirmation of this knowledge (in his personal file perhaps?) or it is just a romantic post-war image of him by Krebs, who was later a resistance fighter (close ties with von der Schulenburg).

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't be surprised.
Greek and Latin was taught at secondary schools. I understand Gregor finished Gymnasium and later worked as pharmacist.
Most likely he knew both.

Would either of you know if there any biographies on Gregor Strasser other than Peter Stachura's?

Thank you for that information Boby. I'm a bit surprised that more hasn't been written about Gregor Strasser in English considering how influential he was during the early days.
