Hi all and sundry.
I turn to you in my search for further information on this subject. On Wikipedia I found information on vehicles of the RAD - the usual stuff (VWs, lorries etc.) but does anyone know if the vehicles had a special numberplate with RAD suffix in keeping with vehicles og the Wehrmacht (Heer, Luftwaffe & Kriegsmarine) and the SS ?
Any information on this subject will be most welcome.
Kind regards
Henrik

Re: Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD) vehicles & license plates ?
I have just come across a photograph of an Auto Union with the license plate RAD 20297.

This would be better under the SS forum. I doubt that RAD used that prefix for their vehicles as they wanted to not draw obvious attention to themselves. As mentioned in Peter Hoffmann’s excellent book on “Hitler’s Personal Bodyguard”, members of the RAD had Wehrmacht privileges and Uniforms if needed in order to blend in and remain in control of Hitler’s surroundings while on the road. If Wehrmacht prefixes were not used, then the SS number plates would have been.
