Pfeffer von Salomon question

#1

Post by freddiefro » 03 Oct 2018, 23:40

I have a question about the 1935 NARA photos below of Pfeffer von Salomon reviewing a march with Hitler. I am curious why he isn’t wearing a Party armband for this event…he seems “out-of-uniform.” I know that von Salomon resigned his post as Oberster SA-Führer 5 years earlier and he wasn’t expelled from the NSDAP until 1941, so why is he in complete SA uniform except for the armband?

Hi,
after WWI he led the SA from 1925 till 1930. He was expelled from the party in 1941. He survived the war and died in 1968.
I wonder why or how he never wrote anything between 1945 and 1968 in order to tell his version of history and about who was Hitler.
Did he really write nothing ? No memoir, autobiography, anything else ?

In 2016 Wallstein Verlag published "Franz Pfeffer von Salomon Hitlers vergessener Oberster SA-Führer" by Mark Fraschka; this book is in German. I assume this is a biographical volume. I could find nothing written by Franz Pfeffer himself.

Does anyone have any response or comment on this thread's original question: "...why [Franz Pfeffer] isn’t wearing a Party armband for this event...?" This is an interesting question!

He survived the war and lived long after it, but didnt write anyhting... this is quite amazing.

I wrote a thread about it today in the forum, but it was erased...

Some say that he wrote some thing but that his papers were "lost".

Hi, Michal.

I think that's his brother, Friedrich (Fritz). As far as I know, Franz never wore the insignia of an SA-Obergruppenführer. During Reichsparteitäge in Nürnberg, up to 1938, he wore his old Oberführer-style collar tabs.

But thank you for sharing these. I've seen the middle image but not the other two.

Best wishes,
~ Mike
