RAD Generals
Re: RAD Generals
Ooops I didn't check thoroughly. Schneider was promoted to GenAF later as Gauführer AG XII according to 1943 - 1944 US G2 Intelligence.
And now a nice pic of GenAF Eduard Helff fresh from EBay complte with AG XXVII Baden Gau Badge and tradition cap badge of an edelweiss.
Cheers

Re: RAD Generals
Certainly a Generalarbeitsführer but no one I could associate with Norway immediately.

Thanks Elwyn
Other photos in the same series show Generaloberst Stumpff handing out medals to RAD personell during (what seems to be) opening of an airfield... RAD was used on several airport constructions here in 1940, so my wild guess is that this Generalarbeitsführer was the commander of these units, but never seen seen his name mentioned anywhere

Re: RAD Generals
Hi,
Commichau passed away in Vienna on October 1, 1942. I think Oberstarbeitsführer Röhrig, who was the acting Arbeitsgauführer that time, could be in charge for a while maybe. But for sure, Oberstarbeitsführer Robert Leitner was commissioned to lead the Arbeitsgau, I just don't know since when. He was officially appointed as Arbeitsgauführer with effect from August 1, 1943. Since January 1, 1944, he was Generalarbeitsführer.
In the picture, it is really Schaal. Picture was taken in today's National Museum in Prague on June 26, 1944 (that should be the correct date), when Hierl opened the exhibition called "Honor the Labor".

Elwyn W wrote:As we all know, Commichau died not long after Heydrich's assassination. Does anyone recognize who was his successor as RAD general in Bohemia? In the group pic with Hierl, looks like Schaal on the extreme left. Caption said date was 24.06.44.

Re: RAD Generals
This is an interesting 1940 book on Arbeitsgau XIII, with an excellent portrait of their Generalarbeitsfuhrer Max Prentzel.
