Hello,
Found this interesting site recently, and wondered if anyone can help -
There was a reference in a book by Sven Hassel (can't remember which) to an organisation called Geheimes Gericht or something (I seem to recall it abbreviated to GGSS or GGFF or similar) - It was referred to as some sort of quasi army trade union-cum-social club which was rather secretive but very powerful and that even the Gestapo was frightened of it and generally avoided messing with it. One of the platoon in the book managed to get them off his back by just mentioning that he was in it or something similar.
Was this pure fiction, and if not (the Hassel books always struck me as generally pretty good on the general facts), can anyone shed any light on this? As a historian, I've always found facts that don't meet the traditional view (ie that the Gestapo was all-powerful, in this instance) interesting, so I'd love to know more.
cheers,
WT

Its from Liquidate Paris, chapter 14 ( the gestapo capitulates ) .
its actually GGSA Geheimes Gericht der Soldaten und Arbeiten.
( Secret Administration of Justice for Soldiers and Workers ). Quite a funny chapter. If such an organization existed I don't know.
cheers.
