Last weekend I saw a documentary made by the BBC about the Hitler youth. Three things made me awkward however.
1-According to the film Hitler had a secret passion in his teens while living at Linz with a (jewish) girl named Stephanie Izak.
2-Hitler might have had homosexual leanings. Some aspects of his life during the Vienna years and during the military service were aduced for that claim.
3-Hitler was elected with 19 votes as a soviet commissar of the army during the Kurt Eisner regime in Munich in 1919. Later on, after the fall of the soviet regime he was a member of a commision created with the purpose of geting ridden of undesirable people from the army.
Hitler as a youth and young adult
First time Iv heard the girl was Jewish and I wonder how biographers seem to have missed this ?, but at the time his mother had a Jewish doctor and he showed no sign of it bothering him. It appears he never spoke to the girl.
During the Communist Raterepublik in Bavaria army units set up soldiers councils and Hitler was elected as the deputy Battalion Representative but according to people who met him at this time he described himself as a Social Democrat. To be elected though he must have given the impression he was sympathetic to socialist ideals.
The story that he was homosexual is either based on people who cannot be taken seriously or is conjecture except for one story from a man in the same army unit as Hitler who claimed he saw Hitler in bed with a man, but this story is treated with caution by historians as if I remember correctly the mans character was not the best and political opponents may have put him up to it.

All the evidence available shows that Hitler did not become fully anti-Semitic until during or just after WW1. It was a gradual process for him - he started off as just another German nationalist, then became more and more racially conscious during his stay in Vienna. Anyway, he had nothing against Jewish individuals, only Jews as a whole.
