Hallo Koj,

have a look in
Egon Fein "Hitlers Weg nach Nürnberg. Verführer. Täuscher. Massenmörder", Verlag Nürnberger Presse 2002.

There is also "Dokumentationszentrum Reichsparteitagsgelände".

Does anyone know how Liebel died? It states he was murdered in 1945.

On 20.04.1945 Liebel, returned from Berlin, shot himself dead (Palmenhofbunker behind the Polizeipräsidium). Gauleiter Karl Holz KIA (shock troops), Polizeipräsident Otto Friedrich Karl Kuschow KIA near Elisabethkirche.

Liebel

Sorry, just in German:
Liebel erschoss sich bei der Einnahme Nürnbergs durch die Amerikaner. Den Gerüchten zufolge sei Liebel von Gauleiter Holz zum Selbstmord gezwungen worden, da er zur Rettung seiner Stadt doch noch an eine Kapitulation gedacht haben soll. Am 25. April 1945 wurde die Leiche Liebels im Palmenhofbunker gefunden.

You can see Willie Liebel a few seconds in the last part of "Triumph of the Will" when the SS march in front of Hitler in the last part of the Marchs before the ceremony to closed the Congress.

Hallo AnDie and Laurens,

my source is:
Egon Fein "Hitlers Weg nach Nürnberg. Verführer. Täuscher. Massenmörder", Verlag Nürnberger Presse 2002.
There you find a lot of information about Streicher, Holzer, Liebig, but no order of Streicher or Holz is reported there.

Streicher

Post by JLEES » 11 Jul 2004 23:56

But why did Streicher order his death? What did Willie Liebel do?
