Re: ReichsLuftschutzBund RLB
Some magnifications:
On the left some officers, the other men have ranks ranging from Luftschutz-Truppmann to Luftschutz-Obertruppführer.
A similar photo of RLB females can be found at http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 3&start=34
Best regards
Torsten

Werkluftschutz Sachsen
The photograph posted by Heimatschuss is great; but allow me to point out that these are actually not members of the Reichsluftschutzbund.
They are, however, indeed part of the wartime air raid protection system. What we have here (as well as in the other thread with the mixed male/female group) are personnel of the Werkluftschutz of Gau Sachsen. (= factory air raid protection service in the Gau of Saxony.)
We can tell that they are WLS personnel from the cap badge worn by the officer on the far left as well as from the special WLS collar patches. The distinctive triangular sleeve insigne for WLS personnel in Saxony is also worn by some of the men.
Rank insignia visible in this photograph are for the ranks:
WLS-Mann (blank collar patch)
WLS-Vormann ("L"-shaped lace)
WLS-Truppführer ("L"-shaped lace + 1 rank pip)
WLS-Obertruppführer ("L"-shaped lace + 2 rank pips)
Here is an example of the WLS Saxony sleeve insigne:

Re: ReichsLuftschutzBund RLB
Fascinating,
I thought I had found something a bit rare and now I learn that it's even much rarer than assumed.
Many thanks, HPL2008!
I had never heard of this Werkluftschutz Sachsen before. Obviously their collar patches and the eagle were inspired by the insignia of the Reichsluftschutzbund providing some base for confusion.
Best regards
Torsten

Hello,
here are two shots of a 1940 RLB man from Passau (Lower Bavaria) I found in the archive of the former Maurer photo studio. The downloadable originals are somewhat larger than here.

Nice images. And thanks for that brilliant link! I see that there are a lot more excellent portraits to be discovered in that gallery...

yes it's a great source for uniform pictures (Police, Zollgrenzschutz, 2 x DKiG, RADwJ, Merchant Navy and much more). I've spent several evenings going through the 20.000 or so photos year by year but it was worth it.HPL2008 wrote:Nice images. And thanks for that brilliant link! Re: Reichsluftschutzbund RLB
Had the Reichsluftschutzbund on my to do list for some time, since I've found that it apparently was transfered to the NSDAP in 1944 - at least that is according to Wikipedia (not always the most reliable source - here's the link: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichsluftschutzbund
Anyone know in which way the RLB was attached to the NSDAP? As a "betreute Organisation"? And who was it's President(s) after von Schröder and von Roques? I'd also be interested in the name of eventuel Vizepresidents if there were such a position?

Re: Reichsluftschutzbund RLB
Schröder was appointed in 1939, and as far as I know he was the last Präsident.Halfdan S. wrote:Anyone know in which way the RLB was attached to the NSDAP? As a "betreute Organisation"? Re: Reichsluftschutzbund RLB
Cheers Igor. You might be right, again I only have Wikipedia, that states that Schröder only was president until May 30, 1941: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RLB-Pr%C3%A4sident
