Would anyone here happen to know what Lutze's rank was in April of 1934? And what would the English equivalent of that rank be?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Obviously this would be his rank prior to his promotion after the death of Rohm.
And also, if anyone would know what Arthur Nebe's rank was at this same time.

Lutze's rank was SA-Obergruppenführer. It is equivalent to an American 3 star Lt. General, or a Wehrmacht General der Infantrie, Artillerie etc etc. The SA general ranks were:

SA-Brigadeführer = Generalmajor
SA-Gruppenführer = Generalleutnant
SA-Obergruppenführer = General der Infantrie etc
SA-Stabschef = Generalfeldmarschall

The SA did not have an equivalent to a full general like the SS had with its SS Oberst-Gruppenführer.

Thanks, Mark. Very much appreciated.
Any idea as to Arthur Nebe's rank at this same time?

Would anyone happen to know the location of Lutze's last residence? Was it perhaps near Minden, as he was Police President of Hannover.

Well, I happened to come across a link to a Daily Mail site that discussed the Spring 2008 auction of dozes of photographs supposedly recovered by Allied officers from Lutze's home in Bevergen, Germany in 1944? Here is the link.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -home.html

Does anyone know where Bevergen is? How the Allies got to a town in Germany in 1944 is a mystery unless it was west of the Rhine?

Does anyone have the name (and perhaps dates/places of birth/death) of his mother, and perhaps information on his father beyond what I currently have (see below)?

* Son of the master shoemaker and smallholder August Lutze (*00.00.1859, †00.00.1947).

With thanks in advance,
~ Mike

With Lutze is General Enzo Galbiati (head of the M.V.S.N.) during his visit to the Reich in September 1942.

Best wishes,
