This has probably been posted earlier. This is a very high quality version of the 50th Birthday of Hitler.

The automobile engineer and designer Ferdinand Porsche (in suit) presents Hitler with a convertible Volkswagen for Hitler's 50th birthday, Berlin, Germany, April 20, 1939. "Hitler loved to have his driver tear along at 80 mph," LIFE magazine once noted, "until 1939 when he turned superstitious about accidents and made 35 mph the limit."

Not another one :)

By now most people realize he had more than one Mercedes.

Interesting article on where many of Hitler's possessions end up over the years.

I don't see any references to this book here, so I would just point to "Hitler's Personal Security" (Peter Hoffmann, 1979. ISBN 0 333 23513 4 ):
In chapter 7 (page 61), Hoffmann say Hitler had a red Benz in 1923 (he says he drove it, but in the next sentence mentions a chauffeur/bodyguard..?)*. He also says that this Benz was Hitler's fourth car (page 62).

*Hoffman also refers to the following books:
"Hitler: The Missing Years" (Ernst Hanfstaengl, 1957. ISBN 1-55970-278-8 ), page 131
"Der Orden unter dem Totenkopf: Die Geschichte der SS" (Heinz Höhne, 1967. ISBN 0-14-139012-3 ), page 64

I wonder just haw many cars were actually owned by Hitler himself. I assume the majority were owned by the Nazi government.

Rare image of A. Speer driving his own car.

with his children Albert and Hilde (front), Margret, Arnold and Fritz (rear)

I've never seen an image of A. Hitler behind the wheel of a car. If there is an image out there please post it.
