In his biography of Hitler, John Toland wrote that Hitler could drive a car. It is many years since I read this book, but I remember reading that Hitler could drive.

I think he did drive, but when you're rich like he was, there was a thing called chauffeurs that drove his car for him. 8-)

Paulus II wrote:In "Daimler-Benz and it's Nazi history" by Bernard P. Bellon it is claimed that Hitler was picked up from Landsberg prison (where the above pictures were taken) by Jakob Werlin.
Werlin was one of the directors of Mercedes and a friend of Hitler. Werlin had also been involved in the 1923 Putsch and Hitler seems to have had some shares in Mercedes-Benz.
Assuming that a Mercedes-Benz director would drive a company car I think it's a fair bet that the car is a Mercedes.
Hitler was picked up from Landsberg in 20Dez1924 at 1:17:26s PM by two men:

Heinrich Hoffmann and Adolf Müller.

I'm currently watching part 1 of a documentary called "Hitler's Bodyguards". The photo of Hitler outside Landsberg with a Mercedes was shown: the commentary claimed the car belonged to Hoffmann, who - it was implied - took the picture.

It is a gift; I do not own it.

and, unfortunately, as with many gifts, I cannot return it.

In a later episode of this series (a new Nugus/Martin production) there are quotes from Hitler (not attributed) in which he compares his own driving technique to that of a friend called Muller. The commentary calls him a "reluctant driver" in the 1920s, due to political concerns in case of accidents.

¿Hitler could drive?

I never read anything that corroborates this.

Isn't this splitting hairs? Of course - a man of Hitlers zest and curiosity, must have taken to the wheel at some time. Before he became 'der Phürer' - he had most of those desires we all have. It's fairly certain that he never obtained a drivers license - otherwise that fact would have been endlessly recorded in the 'Hitleriana' that we are fed ad nauseam. Driving a car of the twenties was rather more complex - than it is today. Double de-clutching, revving to 'hit' a lower gear etc., that required a lot of driving experience - he may never have mastered well. But sure, he must have tried it!

Just recently on my History Channel there was an old clip of Hitler and he certainly was driving. It looked like
very early 30's.

Hitler did drive occasionally for fun, but did not have a drivers license.

According to this Germany was the first nation to require driver's licenses (1910) :

Though this says registration was required in the UK as early as 1903:

Please, what is the source for this? Hitler driving?

Extremely unlikely!
