Extremely unlikely!

Boby,
Wrong. The MAN himself states that he drove in the EARLY days before taking power. I'm currently reading Hitler's Table Talk and its in there straight from the horse's mouth.

Tony,

Since there's a question about it, could you post the particular passage from the book that has Hitler saying he drove? As well as the publication information?

Thanks,

~Vikki

To quote Hitler: "Adolf Muller's the man to whom I owe the fact that I understand the art of driving a car". Page 234, half way down under the heading "10 February 1942, evening. SPECIAL GUEST: Himmler - Motor cars and their drivers". From Hitler's Table Talk 1941-1944 by H.R. Trevor-Roper New Edition. Since its a 600 page book and I half way through that's just 1 quote I found but I'm sure others can check further IF this quote I posted isn't clear enough.

"I Understand the art of driving a car" is not "I can drive a car" or "I drive a car in the 20s".

Look at the context:

p. 309
Müller had very much vexed me by saying that my car was
not a car but a saucepan, that my drivers drove like dummies,
and that if I went on as I was doing, it wouldn't last long.
When he told me he would himself drive
his car, my first reaction was to inform him that I wouldn't
come with him. "Get in," he told me, "and you'll learn what
it is to drive a car." I must honestly confess that the journey
was a revelation to me. Unlike most people, I'm always ready
to learn.
p. 310
During that journey I took two decisions: I'd buy a Benz,
and I'd teach my drivers to drive.
p. 648
Adolf Müller once taught me to drive a car.

Boby,
And from ALL that you come to the conclusion that Hitler NEVER drove? I got a bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you CHEAP...

Hi Boby,

From a TV documentary I have taped a film "In Love with Adolf Hitler". In one scene Hitler steps into his car and drives away. Comment: "Adolf Hitler enjoys driving his Mecedes on the Autobahn, although he has no drivers licence."

Can you get that scene on youtube?
Regarding the commentary about Hitler driving without a license, I'm curious to know what the filmmaker's source was.

Hello Geli,

Unfortunately, I'm just a simple PC-user and have no Idea how this youtube business works. I'm spending a lot of time on the road. Next time I'm home I'll give you some more information about Eva Braun filming Hitler on the Berghof.

Hello Geli,

please check "Hitler's Mistress - Eva Braun's real home video's WW2 era" on this forum by Firefox 23 November 08.
Also go to Yahoo and type: "Eva Braun's home video clips"
You may find what you are lokking for.

As I continue reading 'Hitler's Table Talk" I found this: Page 489 toward the bottom. Quoting Hitler
"'Adolf Muller once taught me to drive a car". Now unless you naysayers can explain to me HOW Hitler learned how to DRIVE a car WITHOUT actually DRIVING one I rest my case.

Another quote on the same page with AH explaining why he chose NOT to drive "In any case, I cannot see myself driving for 12 hours and making a speech at the end of it". Doesn't mean he NEVER drove a car. BTW the rest of that page and the next is comedy gold from AH. :)

"Der Führer war ein armes Schwein, er hatte keinen Führerschein."

Or, to try it in English: " The Führer (Driver) was a poor sod as he had no Führer´s (Driver´s) license."

I think that pretty much sums everything up that needs to be known!

I think, and that´s really only my opinion without a historic proof, hitler did drive in his life, perhaps not long but I think he tried it.
