In Vienna, all six towers are intact. One pair is to the south-west of the city centre. The G-Tower, however, is in the Stiftskaserne, an Austrian army base,to which the public does not have access. It is surrounded by buildings and cannot be seen from street level. This photo was taken from the steeple of St Stephen's Cathedral. The tower is behind the church cupola in the middle distance.

The L-Tower in Esterhazypark has been converted into an aquarium, the Haus Des Meers (House of the Sea). Its roof is used for advertising hoardings. These indignities cannot conceal the majestic size of this tower.

One face of the tower is used by rock-climbers, whose coloured hand-grips and foot-holds can be seen here.

The second pair of towers is in Arenbergpark in the northern part of the city. The G-Tower is used as a storehouse for art, and there are plans to turn it into an art centre under the (English) name Contemporary Art Tower.

The L-Tower stands some distance away in the park and is empty and unused.

The third pair of towers is in Augarten, north-east of the city centre. The G-Tower is cylindrical in shape rather than square like most of the other towers. It is apparently considered structurally unsound, and recently the gun platforms on one side of the tower were removed for fear they would fall off, and steel cables were wound around the tower to strengthen it.

The Augarten L-Tower is my favourite of all the towers. It is a tall, square-shaped monster with windows up one side and sinister spikes coming out of the concrete under the gun platforms. It looks like a giant dalek which has wandered into downtown Vienna.

Who designed the original concept? Was it Speer? Or an effort from the OT?
They appear to be built from a template. Having only seen the Berlin towers, this impression is confirmed from the Vienna examples.

Architect Prof. Friedich Tamms designed the Flak Towers.

There is a book called "The Flak Towers" in Berlin, Hamburg and Vienna 1940-50 by Michael Foedrowitz
which should answer any or all of your questions

There is also another book which has many more photos......Waffen - Arsenal Waffen und Fahrzeuge der Heere und Luftstreikräfte Bunker in Berlin 1937 -1945 by Wilfried Kopenhagen

In terms of the survival of their work, that would make Tamms the Third Reich's most successful architect, ahead of Troost and then Speer.
