Interested in the Story of Rommel’s gold, I know the focus is now fixed on Walter Rauff. What I would like to know has anyone information on the following Names and if they actually where serving in the German or Italian forces or where they names of people who never served.
Colonel Friedrich Barz said to be a member of Rommel’s staff in Tunis 1943.
Walter Himpe served under Braz, sound like his batman.
Peter Flieg, diver serving in La Spezia harbour Italy 1943.
Walter Kirner said he was the person to report to the French the account of Rommel’s gold.
It is thought he was a member of the Waffen SS serving in Russia 1943.
Vincenzo Luna, Italian prisoner of war 1943 Tunis reported gold being buried bay Afrika Korps troops in Tunis, He went back after the war to find the gold was gone.
Any info would be Helpful thanks Peter.
