Question about Joseph Goebbel's corpse

#1

Post by MFinnie » 30 Apr 2017, 00:38

In the photos and video footage of Goebbel's corpse, his left arm is raised high and clenched in a fist but immobile and doesn't fall back down. Can someone explain to me how his arm would maintain that position? I've had no luck looking up a dead person with their arm raised and not falling back down.

When a body is cremated, the tendons can tighten, bending the limbs. Bodies have been know to sit up while being cremated (which, I have been told, is rather disconcerting for onlookers).

Just what I was about to say myself - it's the result of high temperatures!

It's also what's caused the lips to draw back from the teeth like that.
