Refugees from the Saarland after the 1935 plebiscite: How many were there?

I have read a brief reference to France taking 7,000 refugees from the Saarland after the 1935 plebiscite.

Can anyone confirm this number, or provide a sourced alternative?

Many thanks,

Sid.

Weimar in Exile: The Antifascist Emigration in Europe and America by Jean-Michel Palmier:
When the result [of the plebiscite] was announced, 7,000 refugees from the territory arrived in France, both native Saarlanders and German antifascits who had taken refuge there.
Refugees from Nazi Germany and the Liberal European States by Frank Caestecker and Bob Moore (editors):
When the Saarland was returned to Germany from League of Nations Administration after the plebiscite in 1935, about 8,000 political opponents of the Nazi regime and some Jewish families fled to France.

The Nansen Office talked about 4.000 refugees.
