P.O.W.s working on farms in Austria

Hi, I’m trying to find out more about Grandad who was a Royal Marine (Manchester Regiment) P.O.W. Captured on Crete. After being marched to Germany he ended up working on a farm in Austria. Would anyone have any general information about this and what life was like? I think he actually lived on a farm for a while and he went back to visit in the 80s. But he also spent time in 2-3 camps. His war record doesn’t say much and although I have copies of all his mail sent back home, it obviously doesn’t divulge much about daily life in the camps etc.
Any help much appreciated!!
