The official AHF pre-anschluss Austria quiz thread

#1

Post by Marcus » 20 Jan 2004, 23:24

The quiz threads we've had running in the Lounge for a while has been a great success, so I think it is time to get one started in this section too.
The rules are very simple:
The first one to post the correct answer to a question, posts a new question (must be on the pre-anschluss Austria, 1918-1938) and so on.

According to my source, he entered the train (sent by the British) on March 23, and crossed into Switzerland at March 24 at Feldkirch.

Close enough, your turn :)

Ok, here is my question.

Who was the first Emperor* of Austria and what years did he reign

*Intresting fact-this has no relation to the above question

This was the offical title of Karl I
("By the grace of God, Emperor of Austria, Apostolic King of Hungary, King of Bohemia, Dalmatia, Croatia, Slavonia, and Galitzia, Lodomeria and Illyria, King of Jerusalem, etc.; Archduke of Austria, Grand Duke of Tuscany and Cracow, Duke of Lorraine and of Salzburg, of Styria, of Carinthia, Carniola and the Bukovina; Grand Prince of Transylvania; Margrave of Moravia; Duke of Upper and Lower Silesia, of Modena, Parma, Piacenza, and Guastalla, of Auschwitz [Oswiecim] and Zator, of Teschen [Czeszyn], Friuli, Ragusa [Dubrovnik] and Zara [Zadar]; Princely Count of Habsburg and Tyrol, of Kyburg, Gorizia and Gradisca; Prince of Trent [Trento] and Brixen [Bressanone]; Margrave of Upper and Lower Lusatia and in Istria; Count of Hohenembs, Feldkirch, Bregenz, Sonnenberg, etc.; Lord of Trieste, of Cattaro [Kotor], and in the Wendish Mark; Grand Voivode of the Voivodina of Serbia, etc.; Imperial and Apostolic Majesty").

I think it was Franz I, who became Emperor in 1804 as a reaction to Napoleon's coronation as Empereur de Francais and his try to create a second Alsace from what was once called the Heiliges Römisches Reich Deutscher Nation. Franz died in 1835.

In the absence of any follow-up, I will presume to jump in and ask a question: who was the Inspector of Cavalry in 1925?
