Re: Then and now photographs
Thanks Christian, this "stickly thread" it is a lot interesting for me and all the "then and now hunters" like me and my friend Ale..
Rome, september 1943. After the news of the peace between Italy and allies has been given to the world, the Germans begin to enter in the city. The photo has been taken in Istria square (In italian is "Piazza Istria") in 12 september 1943.
I hope that mine indeed "then & now" they have interest for all friends of the Forum
Best regards
Marco

It's not a axis tank..
in May 1944, during the last battle of Cassino, through the Cavendish road a group of Sherman tanks tries to arrive to the shoulders of the Montecassino Abbey. One of these jumps on a mine and comes then destroyed from the German Fallschirmjäger who hold the zone.
After 60 years that tank is still here. This then and now is dated 1999, and is drawn from a my article for the Italian Militaria review "uniformi & Armi".

Hello Erik.
Very nice photos.Il recognize the boat in the first picture, have seen it in pictures from Bergen. Quite funny, i wouldnt have tought of that building at all, have walked by it lots of time when going to the bus stops near the church, local knowledge is a must when trying to locate positions, thanks.
