Little city of Pico..

Post by Marco » 03 Oct 2004 16:39

Pico is a little town 25 km east from Cassino. During may 1944, from Pico the german forces who defendig the Gustav Line moves towards Rome on the axis Pontecorvo - Pico - Frosinone
This german RSO of le.Art.Abt. 733 (thanks Werner) with his gun has hit by allied planes on the way.

I made these pictures half a year ago in Arnhem and Oosterbeek, where the British airborne was fighting with German troops for the bridge (too far).

Because alot of people use 'then' pictures with Panzer's and other AFV's, so I guess that's the reason... like: "Wow, some 60 years ago a Tiger1 late was destroyed at this very spot."

All the photo's are from a group of SS-Kriegberichter from all over Germania that are visiting Flanders. If you look you can see SS-Hauptsturmführer Raf van Hulse, former kommander of the 1. SS-Standarte 'Flandern'.
