I've got the following information at my hand: In 1931 census 499.969 inhabitants of Yugoslavia reported German as their mother tongue of whom 28.054 lived in Slovenia.

Speaking of annexation: Note that the western part of the present Slovenia was already part of Italy then as it had been occupied at the end of WWI.

Note that German citizenship of Slovene population was not derived from annexation.
