Re: Vehicle identity requests
Anyone for this bus? It's curious to see RHD with the passenger door also on the right side.
Cheers,
Max

I believe that Holger's pic shows the earlier model L 2/N2 with the spoked wheels. I figure the later L 4000 had the steel disc wheels and other detail variations. However, that Type is the only M-B I've seen with that particular headlamp mounting arrangement.
Cheers,
Max

Thanks very much. I see now that there are passenger doors on the other side as well which address my concern.

Maybe Sd.Kfz. 11/3 Mittlerer Sprühkraftwagen (equipment not installed).

Most probably the bus on your picture was upgraded (or fully re-bodied?) after 1938 under German management to conform new right hand traffic rules.
Cheers!

Hi Max,
to Your question about the MAN. You are right, of course. It is the civil version. It could be the type "E 1" or "E 2".
Best regards
Bert

Hi Sturm 78,
the police truck, which identified uncle as a Mercedes-Benz could be the type O 3000.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Sturm, hi Max,
sorry Max. Today I don´t agree with You according to the Mercedes-Benz truck. The type L 4000 is too big, and the L 1000 is too small for truck on the pic. I think it is the type N 1. Here a pic out of the book "Mercedes Benz Lastwagen und Omnibusse" by Werner Oswald.
Best regards
Bert

http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/Homepage_ ... z_l_1.htmlThe Mercedes-Benz type L 1 resp. N 1 (low chassis) for 1.5 - 1.75 tons payload was manufactured beginning in 1927. Without visible changes, it was renamed to L 2000 in 1930.
