Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Max,
thank You very much for posting this pics. The first two were new for me. A little correction: it was not the Abschlussausführung, but a special version of this vehicle. Here a pic of it out of the booklet Waffen-Arsenal Band 129 "Leichte Zugkraftwagen der Wehrmacht im Einsatz"with a modified motor hood and a wooden platform. As far as I know there is no pic of this version in action.
Best regards
Bert

Hi Bert,
excuse me, please, that I didn´t answer to Your question first. I was trying to ID the trucks on Your pics (thank You very much for posting) but without success. I have an assumption according to Your last pic: it could be an Opel "Blitz" tractor with an extended cabin. Here a pic of a Dutch Opel tractor with extended cabin.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Here's yet another odd superstructure on the 3t chassis. What is its function?
Cheers,

The structure on the Sd Kfz 251 is a map table.
Thanks

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Yes it is a map-table but the Germans did remove them after they found out that it was a prime target for sniper.Hi Max
The structure on the Sd Kfz 251 is a map table.
It did give a big sign "He I'm the commander "
Greetings Bert
Re: Vehicle identity requests
RE. 10764. The "superstructure is an armoured map table which was produced as an add on "kit" beginning in 1941, factory made but sent out to units to be fitted to any Sdkfz 251 they chose by their own workshop unit. Quite what the point of making an armoured map table was escapes me and it looks pretty inadequately armoured anyway. Presumably the armour is there to protect the maps more than the people using them?

Bert
no need to excuse
Glad that you have taken the trouble, you may be right that the vehicle on my picture is a Opel.
And if so it is a civil beute
Did send My friend Piet van Hees a mail asking if he can make a jugement "Opel or Not"
Gruss
