Hi
then it must be a 8 cm Vielfachwerfer on a Maultier also called Himmlerorgel.

Hi everybody,
I hope this one is a bit more difficult to identify.
What kind of vehicle is pictured here? What is special about it?
Regards
Armin

Hi Brano,
that's ok for me.
The picture shows one of the 20 makeshift Krupp sheet metal turrets and superstructures mounted on a 1./Serie La.S. chassis.
They were created as substitutes after Krupps armour bodies failed to pass tests by Waffenprüfamt.
So it's your turn for a new question.

I think it's a Vollkettenaufklärer 38 (t) Kätzchen.

The tracks and perforated toolbox look like 38t, the sloping lower side plate means it’s probably on the Hetzer type chassis, not the earlier 38t tank. The square opening for the engine is different to the Hetzer, and the engine being on the left is the wrong side for the Katzchen.
Is it the Hetzer that was trialed with the Praga Diesel engine, intended for the eventual Pz.Jg.38D ?

I accept that as the correct answer. It is a Bergepanzer 38 (t) with a Tatra 103 diesel engine. This experimental assembly was created in the Tatra company (September 1944).

Thanks Brano, you're being generous, as I only half got it. I'd heard there was one completed Jg.Pz.38t Hetzer built with the Tatra 103 diesel engine, I've seen a photo, but I didn't know of a Bergepanzer 38t with the diesel. Thanks for expanding our knowledge!

Especially thanks for those lovely photos of berge38t in your link. Im a fan of berge38t, especially the winch equipped one. Its a great little engineer vehicle, and looks the part. Germany never had enough BergePz, which directly meant they abandoned 1000s of tanks that had a simple breakdown and were recoverable. Berge38t were a good answer, as they were cheap to make and to run. But BergePz didnt look as good as panzers in the monthly production reports....

Does one of those images show a berge 38t with its largest pulley wheel mounted on the front lip, presumably to enable the winch to pull from the front? Was that even possible? It's the image in this link which won't seem to let me copy it's image into here, so here's it's address for you to click.
