Axis Armored Vehicles Quiz
Re: Axis Armored Vehicles Quiz
In total, I know three JP 38 with a diesel engine. 1st - JP 38 (t) with 8-cylinder engine Tatea V 912, 2nd - JP 38 (t) with 12-cylinder engine Tatra 103 and 3rd - JP 38 (t) Starr with 8-cylinder engine (probably the predecessor of the later Tatra 108 , possibly the same as V 912).
Re: Axis Armored Vehicles Quiz
As for the wheel on the front armor (link does not work). In my opinion, it is just a place where the wheel was stored during transport.

Re: Axis Armored Vehicles Quiz
Hi Brano
I'm not really convinced that this is a Bergepanzer. The back in the photo is vertical while the Bergepanzer has a sloped back side.
I also never read about a Tatra Diesel engine in a Bergepanzer. Where did you find that info?
I still think it's a Kätzchen. In the BMM version the Tatra Diesel engine is on the left side while the AutoUniom version has the
engine compartment on the right side.
Regards
Armin

See the link for more photos. Shows a side view of the bright Berge. Compare the construction of the Kätzchen 38t mock up and Bergepanzer 38 (t). You will not find information about this reconstruction anywhere. The photo was found relatively recently in the Opava Archive (CZ).

Re: Axis Armored Vehicles Quiz
Upon close inspection, this photo is a strange berge 38..
.
https://www.valka.cz/attachments/796/Ha ... st___2.JPG
.
It's driver visor is at the correct height for a JP 38, not the berge. It seems to have a shadow on the front plate that shows the shape of an armoured plate-patch over the main gun aperture, something seen on a few late chassis that were quickly modified by Czech partisans, who took unfinished, un-gunned JP 38s, covered the big hole in the glacis, making a usable APC.
But it definitely has the big triangular base for the 2ton jib crane, at the top of the front right glacis corner, and it has the large winching wheel that was only issued with berge 38t. So I think it's an improvised, late berge conversion, possibly with the roof taken off a JP 38, and therefore unlikely to have a winch fitted, due to lack of room.

Re: Axis Armored Vehicles Quiz
Yes, it's not a standard Berge. It is hypothesized that standard JP 38 (t) hulls could have been used.

Hi Bam
I think it's a 12,8 cm Pak 44 inside a Jagdtiger.

Re: Axis Armored Vehicles Quiz
No idea.
The hatch looks similar to a 35t, the tracks look similar to Italian 13/40. But I've never seen this vehicle before.
.
Any clues?

Hi Bam
you are close. The vehicle was captured in Yugoslavia.
It's not a 35 (t) but the same country of origin.

Re: Axis Armored Vehicles Quiz
Hi Armin
Its a Skoda S-I-D/T-32. Very scarce in German service considering its vintage - captured from the Yugoslavian Army in April 1941. German designation is PzKpfw 732(j).
