Vehicle identity requests
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Max,
That is fantastic, for some years I have been trying to find the id of two cars which seem to be in German use in North Africa. I had posted on this and other websites, but no success. I now know the front vehicle, but the rearward one, perhaps also FIAT, is still a mystery. Thank you so much, another quandary solved!
Best regards,
Kerry.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Kerry,
I'm happy that I was able to help you out, albeit inadvertently. That's a great pic, by the way. I too think the car in the background looks like a FIAT. I can't find an exemplar although this 508 by Balbo has some similar design elements:

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi all,
I don't know if i post this in the right forum,
But is there a possibility to identify the vehicle by the licence plate?
Maybe someone recognizes the broken contact key?
KRAD is a motorbike?, maybe the small Keys are from the "luggage" boxes that you sometimes see?
Thanks in avance tips are more than welkome!
Greetings, Tim

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Tim,
'Krad' certainly suggests a motorcycle, it being, I believe, an abbreviated form of the German word for motorcycle which is 'Kraftrad'.
As for identifying the individual vehicle I'm unable to help. I went to the website autogallery.org.ru which contains a long list, in order, of the number plates of German vehicles with accompanying photographs; the number plate in question is not listed.
If I can find anything relevant I'll let you know.
Regards, Rob.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Sturm 78,
if I could read the details (weight 3.800 kg, payload 3.000 kg) on the door, than it could be a Büssing-NAG type 300. Here a version built for the Wehrmacht.
Best regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Sturm,
I think your photo is a Büssing-NAG Typ 200, as the Typ 350 has a longer hood. I have not seen the Typ 300 designation. I think Bert was wrong.
Here is a photo for comparison:

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Andriy,
Maybe Bert is correct.
I thought the 3 ton Burglöwe was later designated Type 300? The only pics I have of the type are of the conversions made in 1934 for transporting Auto-Union's racing cars.

Grazie mille MAX!!!!Maxschnauzer wrote: ↑18 Jun 2021, 23:14Hi Francy,
These coachbuilt Italians can be hard to pin down but this one looks like a FIAT 2800 with styling somewhat similar to this one by Carrozzeria Viotti:

Yes indeed you are right - the Type 300 existed, I found an image of it. And it was originally called that. In appearance, the Type 300 was almost indistinguishable from the Type 250, with the exception of a longer wheelbase. But in the photo there is Sturm78, a truck with a shorter wheelbase. So this is Type 200 or Type 250.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Andriy,
Yes, I agree with you, the wheelbase does appear shorter on Sturm's pic. Holger also lists a Typ 260 and Typ 275 but there are no pictures. http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/Homepage_ ... glowe.html
But there remains the matter of the door markings.
Thanks for the pic of the 300D.
