Hello Tom

Is it an Armoured Engineers Vehicle type Te-Ge based on Type 97 medium tank? There was a version I think where the bridge was launched by two 1.5 KG rockets I believe.

Hi.

Answer to a) is correct

Answer to b) is wrong. The vehicle on my pic was not based on the type 97 medium tank.

Answer to the additional question is corrrect.

Here are some pics of the tests:

The hull appears to be welded; Is the answer to b) Type 3 Chi-Nu?

Not totally correct, but close enough.

The type 3 tank used the hull of the type 1 medium tank Chi-He with an enlarged turret diameter.

Two differences to the hull of a type 97 medium tank Chi-Ha can be seen on my picture above:

1. The welded forward hull (no rivets on the forward side armour)
2. shape and size of the forward fender

Here a comparison of the fronts of a type 1 and a type 97 medium tank to show the differences:

To me it´s obvious that the T-G (or Te-Ge) on my picture is based on a hull of the type 1 tank.

I have no further infos on this vehicle so I can´t say if there was only one prototype or if there was another prototype based on the type 97 tank, sorry.

Thanks Tom,
Since Phil got most of the questions right (and I was a bit off anyway) I'll defer my turn to him if that's OK by you.

Driver training vehicle (Fahrschule) converted to run on LPG (aka "Stadtgas") to conserve precious fuel, also seen on SdKfz 251.

Panther Ausf.D Panzerbefehlswagen, Panzer-Versuch und Ersatz-Abteilung, 300 (Fk1.), Eisenach, 1944.
Propulsion system modified to save gasoline., hence the tanks on the back.

Thanks,

but my usual caveat of being pressed for time prevents me from digging in the archives, so over to you once again Sitz- remember, nothing run of the mill or too extraordinary, please.

Cheers,

JM

OK, Jens.
This can hopefully be considered something "in between":
