Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hello!
That's not exactly what I have.
There is something wrong in the digit which should be somewhat alleviated
Otherwise, a Ceirano.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Iffig,
Looks quite similar to this CTV Ceirano 50 CM and AFAIK the ten bolt wheels are typical for a 50 while e.g. the Ceirano 47 pics I've seen show eight bolt wheels.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hello !
I have found the picture in the Italian coachbuilder Menarini's on-line archives and they say it is a Ceirano 47.
I suppose they know what they are doing (But, on the other hand, some of their post-war identifications seem dubious ).
Anyway, it was an opportunity to share the link:

Next question your's!

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
But for the headlights disposition and some other details, one thinks of a 1939 Lincoln Zephyr.

Hmmmmm.

Based on the grille and the side louvers in the motor hood, I have this one as a 1938 .

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Four score and seven years ago K followed L.
I thought a 1938 Lincoln Zephyr too so over to Bill for connecting all the dots.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Markus, ilfig and Bill,
I, like yourselves and many others, I suspect, searched everywhere for the exact model, but without success. From the photo it is impossible to see if the headlights have been removed, the holes faired over, and new lights mounted externally. I guess, given the capital I for a repair company, that it is not beyond possibility that a unit made the adaptations to replace broken and unavailable headlights?
A really testing question Markus, well found, and well answered ilfig and Bill.
Regards,
Kerry.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Apologies List......
1. Sorry for the lack of activity. Too many Doctor visits, Clinic visits and Medical visits to the house. I will try to explain better, later.
2. Sorry to Iffig for jumping on his initial answer on the Zephyr. I should have waited for Markus' response.
3. So, sorry to Markus and a bit later to Kerry.
4. Sorry to all participants in this quiz and others who were following it.
My answer (1938 model instead of 1939), appears to now be incorrect as it could possibly be both. I have not had time to do any more research, but it seems there might have been a "standard" and a "deluxe " model for most years of the original Zephyr. The "standard" model had "normal" shaped front fenders/mudguards with the head lamps mounted in the fender and a sort of flat lens screwed on from behind. The 'deluxe' model had the separate headlamp module. To remove and replace that as would be very difficult whilst replacing the standard models headlamps is rather simple.
So. I failed all the way round.
Markus, may I suggest you award the next quiz to Iffig.
