Thanks Bill,

New subject; the Panzerjäger signalling a left turn (expired eBay auction).

Markus

P.S. Fortunately this quiz still is less frustrating than "The official AHF Equipment of Allies & Neutrals quiz" used to. It's much easier for a tanker to figure out softskins than a landlubber to try to fathom all those bloody boats that kept popping up there.

Yes it is,
With the characteristically short and simple German designation of 3,7cm PaK 36 (Sf) auf Infanterieschlepper UE (f).
Over to you,

Hmmmmmmmm...thanks Bill much appreciated, but only with armour I'm afraid. Lorries and cars leave me all at sea, they all look the same, no matter how hard I try!

I'll try and find something special for the next question.

Hi Phil:

Armour is good!!!

It broadens all of our horizons. I may not be able to participate when it gets really exotic but I do enjoy the game.

Ha!!!

Marmon Herrington Armoured Car for the Persian/Iranian Army 1934.
For the moment, I do not have the model number to hand but I will post that when I find it.

As a matter of interest, this is a side benefit of my soft skin interest as the same photo is available in an original brochure I own published by Marmon Herrington in 1944. According to the brochure, the turret was supplied by Bofors.

OK Bill...Marrmon Herrington it is, and Iranian it is as well. For those asking how that counts as "axis" Iran formally joined the axis powers in August 1941. She was promptly invaded by Britain and the USSR to protect the oil supplies (not a lot changes!).

Give us the mark, Bill and it's yours.

Hi Phil,
One designation I've seen for the Bofors-turreted Marmon-Herrington is TH310 ALF-I. But I'm mainly cutting in to ask one question... How did Iran formally join the Axis powers in August 1941? The country e.g. wasn't a signatory to the Tripartite Pact or a co-belligerent with any of the Axis powers, but AFAIK formally neutral when the British Empire troops and their commie comrades invaded.

No idea on the mark, amigo, I was lucky just to remember the photo!!

Give it to Markus.

As to Iran's position in August, 1941, maybe it was "belligerent neutrality"

Phil,
Even if I happen to have the correct designation, do pass the question to Bill since he unravelled most of the question ages ago and I just stumbled on the Mark. It's past my bedtime and after that I'm off to work... I'm mainly in now to learn more about Iranian allegiances.

OK Guys, try this one.

Markus, Google Iran 1941 and Persia 1941 and somewhere in there you will find the answer. I just did not have the time to look through all the information that is there.
