Hi Sitzkrieg,

You are right; it is the Rumanian Tacam T60 tank with a SU 76,2 mm AT gun. In 1943 30 captured SU T60 tanks were modified by the Rumanians to this tank.

The stage is yours Sitzkrieg!

Hi

Take another look at the Diamond T pic. The guys in the back are wearing slouch hats...and berets. Aussies wearing berets? And I know it's a black and white photo with low res, but they are black soldiers. Probably East African Rifles I'd guess.

Thanks for your additional input, Phil.

I am not a "uniform" person and was only going on what I saw to be slouch hats.
As you brought up, obviously, the majority of the men in the back of the vehicle are of African origin (trying to be pc here) and I will certainly accept your judgement as to their organisational designation.

Thanks Bill

My father was in the 8th army (50 div) and came across the East African Rifles when he was recovering from an illness and he was put in charge of a detachment helping to guard a POW camp. The commander put them as guards on the section with the hard core Nazi party members...drove them mad apparently. But I digress.

Happy Christmas to one and all

Phil

Gents, I'm still trying to put my computer back together after some serious technical troubles, and I cannot hunt for a new question right now.
So, the slot is free to whoever has something good.

Punkyto:

Buena suerte con su proyecto.

You are right- its a Snowmobile in use by the Russians

Still I have no idea how many the Russians got or which units used them.

No doubt it influenced a few of their own post war designs
