Hi Bill,

that must be a French truck. It could be a Renault type AGK.

Best regards

Bert

Yes, the tyres do not look British. I was thinking Panhard, maybe a K101.
Cheers,

According to my source, Bert is correct.
A Renault AGK. The French, along with the Norwegian forces left intact, the British and the Polish forces and volunteers from other countries, mounted an ultimately unsuccessful defense of Norway in 1940.

Thus, you can find quite a variety of weapons from many countries used in a fairly small combat area for a relatively short time.

Hello all,
From the (excellent) French Forum ATF 40) :

http://atf40.forumculture.net/t10935-po ... identifier

I translate and shorten the explanations above by François Vauvillier a well respected specialist of the French Army equpment in 1940 and before: the original picture belongs to the ECPAD (Etablissement de Communication et de Production Audiovisuelle de la Défense) and show the CEFS (Corps Expéditionnaire Français en Scandinavie) in Brest, loading its armament and equipment before sailing to Norway . The truck is registered M 27179 and belongs almost certainly to the 2 nd GAAC ( 2 nd Groupe Autonome d'Artillerie Coloniale). It has been taken shortly before April 18 th, 1940. The ship is most probably the President Doumer which leaved Brest on April 18 th 1940.
So, this particular truck is not (yet ?) an Axis vehicle althought many Renault AGK were used by the Germans.

Hi Bill, hi ilfil,

thank You for the interesting information and the special site, ilfil. In th book "L´automobile sous l´uniforme" by Francois Vauvillier thzere is another pic with a Renault truck type AGK during the embarcation in April 1940 in Brest.

Now to the next question of this quiz: who can ID this truck with the open cab? Good luck!

Bert

Hi Bert,
It looks like a Diamond T from around 1940 with a European cab.

Thank you, Bert.

All I have to say to that is Amen Brother! So it may not be all that challenging to "read between the lines" here and ID the vehicle in the foreground:

Hi Max,

a wild guess: could it be a Hanomag "Rekord"? (source of the pic: https://klassiker-runde-wetterau.com/20 ... ereinsatz/).

Hi Bert,
Well done. Since I can't see the bonnet louvers / vent flaps I figure it could be either a Rekord or 4/23 PS without the side mounted spare.
The next turn is now yours.
Cheers,
Max
