Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Max,
absolutely right! You are the best! I had some doubts that this question was too difficult, but not for You, my friend. I am delighted by Your ability to ID all kinds of vehicles of the past.
Here a pic of this car.
Please, go on with the quiz.
Best regards
Bert

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Bert,
While I greatly appreciate your kind words, I'm afraid I have a very long way to go before even approaching the level of expertise of my mentors here at AHF such as yourself. Still, I thank you for the encouragement. Also thanks for the beautiful pic of the Tornax. I wish I had one today, that DKW two stroke must be quite fuel efficient.
To the next quiz question; these lads are doing their best to hide this car's identity but I believe they left enough detail for someone here to make a positive ID of the Marque and Type:

Hint: This was, and still is, a well known German marque.

Hello Max.
I'm far from certain about this one but I suspect that it's from the BMW stable so I'll guess at a BMW 321?
Rob.

Hi Rob,
Excellent! That's what I was looking for. It's very similar to the 320 except for the bumper and the door swing which you can't see here. Well done and please continue.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hello Max.
Thank you for that. I was lucky to have chosen the 321 over the 320. I even considered the 326 for a while.
Here's my response. Good luck - not that it will be needed.
Regards to all, Rob.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Rob,
You make an interesting point about the 326. AFAIK the only 326 with the single bumper was the 1936 by Ambi-Budd which I've rarely seen: All the rest have the signature double bumper which was the norm: So could it be a 326? IMO possibly but not likely.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hello Max.
The detail differences between the BMW models of the 1930s is an interesting topic and one into which I'll look a little more deeply. I did find another single bumper 326 - this one imported and assembled by Fraser Nash in the UK.
The mystery vehicle is a mystery no more. As you quite rightly say, it's an Autobahn Adler (type 10 2.5 litre).
Well done and it's back to you.
Regards, Rob.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Rob,
Thanks. From what I can tell, the single bumper was limited to a few models in 1936.
I didn't know Frazier-Nash marketed the BMW in the '30's. Live and learn! Now for the new quiz. It may prove a little tricky. Or not.

Hi Max,
I am not sure, but perhaps a Steyr 40D?
Cheers,
Kerry.

Hi Kerry,
Obviously this wasn't too tricky a question for you. I expected someone to at least guess the 640. But it's elder brother it is. Brilliantly played and please carry on.

Hi Max,
You flatter me, but thank you.
Hopefully this one has not been used before, but it is hard to believe that one of the most modern armies in the world went to war with vehicles like this!
Happy hunting,
Kerry.

Hi Kerry,
Good question. Despite the Mercedes-like star the truck is French, a Scemia ca.1925. Somewhere around that time the marque was absorbed into the Renault organization.

Hello Max,
Well done. That was big trap. I have it as a Schneider CGO, as in your scans.
So, you have control,
Kerry.
