Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Rob,
Wow, that was fast! I was expecting to fool someone since it looks so much like the Tatra 72 but you saw right through that. Well done and please carry on.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Thank you, Max.
Here's the next entry in the quiz.
It's a post-war picture, the number plates identifying the location as the Rhineland, British zone of occupation (the letters B and R).
I know the manufacturer of the convertible so that will be adequate. I'm sure that someone will confirm what I believe to be the model type.
Regards, Rob.

To help, it's a German manufacturer and quite commonly found.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Rob,
This is a head scratcher. I've just been through Oswald's Deutsche Autos for the second time and the closest I can find with that distinctive door moulding is this BMW 3/20 PS: I'm not at all happy with this answer but it's the only one I've got!

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hello Bert,
Yes, you're right with your identification of the vehicle as a Hanomag and it has to be a 4-23 PS cabriolet. Enclosed is a picture of a restored example.
Max was very close, the door moulding on the door is very similar to that on the BMW 3/20 and I find that the two types have much in common.
A confession - I thought that I had a photograph of the 4-23 cabrio in military service but I now find that it's of a later model, perhaps a Rekord. I must apologise for that; my entry rather defeated the purpose of the quiz. I must learn to curb my enthusiasm in the future and ensure that I am able to provide evidence of the vehicle in use by by the Axis forces.
Over to you, Bert.
Regards to all.
Rob.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Rob,
thank You! But there is no need for an apology. Hanomag produced a three-seater Kübelwagen of the model 4/23 PS. Unfortunately I don´t have a pic of this vehicle.
Here is the new question: who can ID this truck?
Best regards and much luck
Bert

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Max,
thank You very much for this pic. This must be the Hanomag type 4/23. For comparing a pic with the type 4/20 (source: "Personenkraftwagen der Wehrmacht" by Reinhard Frank). In the same book is a pic of the type 4/23 with the divided windscreen, but not exactly identified (type 4/20 or rather 4/23). With Your help we can now identify the two models of Hanomag cars.
Best regards
Bert

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Bert,
To me it looks like a MAN between 3 and 6 tons. Maybe a Type D1?

Hi Bert and Rob,
Here is a presentation of Hanomag 4/20 and 4/23 Kübels including the three seater 4/23 you mention Bert, from Walter Spielberger's Fahrzeuge der Reichswehr - Radfahrzeuge 1920-1935
