Cupola AA machine gun

#1

Post by st. oswald » 01 Jun 2009, 23:46

Does anyone know if a dedicated mg was carried for the cupola aa mg or was the coaxial or bow mg used?

Also, were the coaxial and bow mg 34's the same guns that the infantry used, with just the addition of armoured barrel jacket (that didn't have vent holes)?

I saw an earlier post that had some good cupola aa mg pics

thanks in advance

The one in the picture has the barrel shroud made for the interior mount, compare with the one in the drawing. If it is typical,I don't know. ---bil

That is shown by the front bipod mount-it was not permanantly affixed, but was in a box inside the AFV,containing a 'ground kit' that was used when the gun was dismounted. They also have a different booster shroud.I have seen the bag used to catch used shells before, but not as an ammo bag for belts. An interesting picture! Thanks. ---bil
