► Photothread: Bus/Omnibuss
I will probably regret starting yet another thread, but the Wehrmacht as well as other Axis nations made use of a very large number of both military design and civilian busses for not only Red Cross use but also for a wide range of military tasks.
I will start off with a few postings from my archive.

Re: Bus/Omnibuss Photos
Hello Bill.
Interesting buses in your last post. The first one (with the tent) is a MAN E 2 / E 3000. I'm not sure about the last one. It could be An Opel Blitz 3,6 47 or a Ford or another 3 ton chassis.
The vehicle in the middle is interesting. It is the second time that I see this type in Wehrmacht use. For sure, it is the same unidentified FAUN bus type which can be seen on my website:
http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/Homepage_ ... nibus.html
Because FAUN made only very small numbers of buses, I'm now convinced that it is a FAUN O 33 D 563 which is mentioned in a list of the common motor vehicles of the Wehrmacht (released around 1942). Most probably, a small series of that bus type was made especially for the Wehrmacht.
Regards, Holger.
Further buses of the Wehrmacht can be found on my site:

Hi Bill!
I am also interested in buses in military service.
I am not sure if this bus is on Wehrmacht service-I can not make out what is written on the back. Maybe someone can help me?

Re: Bus/Omnibuss Photos
The bus is a British Crossley and I don't know the model for the moment.
I would say that the photo was taken in the Jersey Islands by the letter "J" on the registration plate.
That would make it an impressed civilian bus.
