Ostwind, Wirblewind(spelling?), etc......
Were these tanks used soley for AA
In all the games ive played they can be used vs infantry and (not to much affect) vs tanks.
Is this the case (can't trust games)
Were they ever used vs. infantry or just when they were attacked
Cheers Albi

It is very muvh so. The Wirbelwind mounted the 2cm FlaK 38 L/112.5 Flakvierling - it gave a relatively high rate of fire, which was very deadly to infantry, as well as softskins. At close range (100m), it could penetrate up to 49mm of steel with armour penetrating shells.
The Ostwind mounted the 3,7cm FlaK 43 L/89 - this was capable of taking out lesser armoured tanks (not from the front, that is ). It could penetrate 35mm of steel from 100m, and 28mm from 500m. Quite effecitive, still, against armoured cars.
The FlaKs were especially usefull for guarding the flanks, to prevent infantry from attacking from here...
