Hi all,
I've read that this unit had between two and twelve sp 20mm flak. One mention of half track mounts. Can anyone provide information regarding the make up of this unit on D-Day?
thanks,
Rand

Gefechtsstand – Biéville
Kdr.: Oberleutnant Kurt Kaergel
1. (Sfl.) Kp. – Biéville (ten 7.5cm s.Pak Sfl. Auf Lorraine Schlepper)
2. (Pz.Jg.-bo) Kp. – Reviers (nine 7.5cm and three 8.8cm s.Pak)
3. (Flak) Kp. – Anisy (one Züg was east of the Orne 1 kilometer west of
Sallenelles) The company had 12 2cm mobile guns, probably truck mounted self-propelled pieces. There were also 20 2cm and six 7.5cm (f) static antiaircraft guns in the division zone. The 2cm guns were scattered among the various WN, while the 7.5cm guns were south of Bernieres.

Hello
Here you can see the "Züge" ( 4 guns each ) are placed around the Orne river mouth .
The tactical sign of the Fla.Kp looks to me a 2 cm Flak on a self-propelled vehicle
and not a half-track ??
The 6 x 7.5 cm (f) were placed north of Beny sur Mer.
Regards Jos

The Gliederung of 716ID on 1.5.44 does not indicate how many 2 cm guns the 3.Kp had and only shows the “motorized” symbol, not “tracked”. So, it changed by June 6 based on Jos’ map.
If I’m not mistaken, the “tracked” symbol for AA guns (2 cm and 3.7 cm) had to include “half-tracked” vehicles since fully tracked self-propelled 2 cm AA gun were normally assigned to Panzer divisions.
The 7.5 cm Flak (f) x 6 gun battery was located west Tailleville. Refer to the map posted by Jos here (“7,5 f – Al. 6") (Al = Alarm). I think it was positioned so as to protect both Caen-Carpiquet airport and Douvres radar station:

A German document of January 5, 1944 indicates the formation of an “Alarm-Flak-Batterie bei 716 ID” but does not mentions from which unit of the 716 ID the personel was taken.
The AA guns were 7,5 cm Flak M.33(f). Here is a picture (from ebay) taken by a Canadian officer:
