As a result of the Falaise Gap, what were the losses in AFVs and men?

Wow, around 2500, that's a huge loss, imagining that these tanks could have been used wisely, maybe they would have had some effect. Thanks for the info Bayerlein spirit

Keep in mind lot of the armour that was lost, was lost in action before the pocket was closed, fighting in the bocage.

Excuse my ignorance but what unit had Jagdtigers in the Falaise or in Normandy in general?

The same with me, when I saw that image the "?" popped up. Where there any Jagdtigers or did you accidentally post the image?

Sorry for the confusion gentlemen, the picture of the Jagdtiger is taken from:
Patton's Troubleshooters
Image
Baptism Of War-Argentan
http://www.thetroubleshooters.com/history026.html
It's titled "Dead German Assault Gun", and the destruction of the Jagdtiger is not mentioned, perhaps it was knocked out by artillery / planes / another unit...? (..sorry, no information on the unit of the Jagdtiger...)

Fake?

Thanx Trommelfeuer...

On the roads (Pocket to Seine) lot of vehicles have been abandonned by crews like the famous Tigers in Vimoutiers...This is a beautifull picture in a French Town, it seems to be a s.SS 101° Tiger.

Tiger in Marle.........

#26

Post by Michael Kenny » 09 Apr 2003, 12:00

That rubber wheel Tiger is in the town of Marle (north east of Paris and on the road from Laon to Verins). It has had its back end shot away and was set on fire later by local children!. It is very doubtful it was a SS 101 Tiger. The Jagdtiger is obviously a much later casualty as the first one was not lost until Feb. 1945. It is in fact a vehicle from 2nd kp. s.H.Pz.Jg.Abt.512 and as you can see below the whole right side was blown off when the crew destroyed it.

Rouen 5 days after closing gap

Rouen 5 days after closing gap

....After bombing ( 25 27 august 1944 ) on left bank of the Seine in ROUEN.The boms fall upon the hundreds of immobilized vehicles and cause enormous dammage, the embankement is on fire. We could see a Tiger behind the hummel and the Flak Sdkfz. That abandonned Tiger was a s.503° abteilung vehicle. It was very difficult for german to cross the river under "jabo". Strange destiny after escape the kessel too for this Tiger probably s.503°. At total, of 240,000 men with about 30,000 vehicles and 135 tanks succeeded in crossing the river.
