Wunderschön! Never seen it. The cross seems have a thin black core, right?

At first I thought it could be 1.Panzer-Division (PR1 or PR2), but seeing the attached photo with the same yellow identification strip with WH-170013 (which implies Wien), it could be 2.Panzer-Divison (PR3 or PR4).

Hello Akira :D; may be it designates the leader tanks at Coy/Pl level? Cheers. Raúl M 8-).

I guess so. PR3 is known to have used geometric shapes later in the war, while (as far as I know) PR1, PR2, PR4 did not use it. My current guess: PR3.

tigre's photo from 06 Jan 2014 was taken in Limanowa in September 1939. Area of operation of 4.leichte Div.
One more proof that tanks of this unit had non-solid white cross in Polish Campaign.

Thank you very much GregSingh for this clear confirmation . So at least one tank unit carries that type of cross. Cheers. Raúl M :D.

Hello to all :D; a little more.............................

Marking in the German tanks - Poland 1939.

Something I've found in the web: here is shown the marking and numbering system, let me point out the white cross and numbers in the turret of PR 1 (1. Pz) and the two number code in the turret of the 5. Pz............

Unusual markings:

I would say the square and triangle are platoon comanders. Not unlike the funklenk or other specialized panzer troopen.

The attachment of markings in Poland is interesting. I didn't know that Pz. Lehr Abteilung was attached to the 3rd Pz Div in that campaign.

Has anyone an idea to which unit this Pz I belongs? I have never seen a "B08" and I thought i know all of the German tank units in 1939. In the background there seems to be a "A...".
