Re: Military Sleeper Cab trucks
Hi Dima,
I think I could find a new pic of a truck with a sleeper cab: a Mercedes-Benz L 5000 of the year 1932, a special truck for the transport of acid (source of the pic: "Mercedes-Benz Lastwagen und Omnibusse 1896 - 1945" by Werner Oswald).
Best regards
Bert

Hi all!
How hard it is to find anything of historical value these days. And this in today's world of information technology is a paradox. But when we find something of value, we are filled with the joy of rediscovery. Unfortunately, today history has been relegated to the background, the world is rushing after new technology and has stopped noticing the beauty of history. I have an interesting find that I want to share with you. A French magazine from the early thirties. Somua is on the cover, and I assume Unic (Ebay).
Friends share interesting finds!!! Let the world remember its history.

Hi Dima,
thanks a lot for sharing all Your pics You have collected.
The tractor on the first pic could be indeed a UNIC type CD 2 T like on the pic here with a semi-trailer made by the company Coder, too.
Best regards
Bert

Re: Military Sleeper Cab trucks
Hi all!!!
I have a revolutionary find today that dates back to 1916. It's a Thornycroft truck!
The description of the picture says: «It Will be noted that there is another compartment between this and the driver's seat, which serves as a storage place for forage and sleeping quarters foi two men.»
So this is one of the first British trucks with a sleeper cab, but the search continues.

Re: Military Sleeper Cab trucks
New discovery Commer (1926). I never would have paid attention to this truck for the presence of a sleeper. But the commentary on the picture says I'm wrong:
"In the course of the demonstration made for our benefit the tractor-trailer was placed directly against the kerb, the front wheels were locked full over the moment they were free from contact with the kerb and the machine was then turned in a circle 26 ft. in diameter, on either lock. At one point the tractor is at an angle of about 80 degrees to the trailer, and if the cab had not been made large enough for a man to sleep in an even neuter angle could have been obtained."
