Hf.11/Hf.13 Field kitchen question
Hf.11/Hf.13 Field kitchen question
Hi,
Can someone explain the differences in the Hf.11 and Hf.13 field kitchens? I've got the basics: the main boiler of 200 l in the middle and the 90 l coffee boiler on the side. But what were the differences? Did both have two hatches on the coffee boiler? And what about the compartments in the back? Different reports show a roasting unit on one version and two or three storage compartments at the rear. Any details are appreciated. Any info on the Hf.12/Hf.14 differences are appreciated also!
Thanks,
Rand

Hi Rand,
now I can tell You something about the differences between Hf. 11 and Hf. 13.
Let´s begin with the rear view. Here apic of both types. On the left the Hf. 11. You can notice a difference between the catches of the fireplaces on the left and in the middle down, also the catch on the right at the top. And there is a difference between the flap in front of the pot. The Hf. 11 had two rows with nine holes, Hf. 13 two rows with 14 holes.
Part two will follow.
Regards
Bert

Hi,
now to the front view and the most remarkable distiction mark, the chimney. Hf. 11 had a conical chimney with a ring on the top, Hf. 14 a round chimney without the ring. On the front part there are differences in the compartments as You can see on the pics.
Part three will follow.

Hi,
now to the left side. The Hf. 11 has two compartments for the coffee boiler, Hf. 13 only one. On the pics You can see the different chimneys of both types once more.

Re: Hf.11/Hf.13 Field kitchen question
Hi,
one more difference, here between the limbers. The box of the limber Hf. 11 was made out of wood (up), Hf. 13 (down) out of steel sheet.

Hi,
now to the last difference as far as I know: the spring connection between the limber and the field kitchen (Federprotzverbindung):
Hf. 11 has a connection with holes in it, the Hf. 13 without the holes.
I hope You will understand my explanations.
Regards
Bert

Re: Hf.11/Hf.13 Field kitchen question
Hi Bert,
Yes and Thank you very much for sharing these pictures and pointing out the details!
One more question for clarification: In part 2, the front of the Hf.11 shows three compartments.
The one on the right appears to be a cooker? Any details? And two storage compartments on the left.
While the Hf. 13 appears to have storage compartments.
Thanks again for your help!

Re: Hf.11/Hf.13 Field kitchen question
Hi Rand,
here is a drawing of the parts - compartments of the Hf. 11 with their contents. The compartment on the right appears to be a cooker, but it is the compartment for the "Kochbadflüssigkeit" (liquid for the space between the interior and exterior kettles) Gycerin (glycerin). The glycerin avoided the burning of the meal.

Bert

Thanks very much for your clear and detailed presentation in this thread, Bert. I was lucky enough to grab several screenshots from Adrian's site before it went dark pertaining to the same topic, in this case variants of the Hf. 11. The right hand column appears to pertain to the Hf. 13 as well as an updated Hf. 11. Further food for thought...
Cheers,
Max
