Does anyone know of this event? It appears that along with the Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. N/J/H and Pz.kpfw. IV Ausf. G tanks that were offered (and subsequently delivered) to Turkey in 1943* that Germany may have indeed offered Turkey the Tiger I (along with Japan who purchased the Tiger I) although it looks as if Turkey did not purchase a Tiger I (this is just my suspicion).

Does anyone know more of this event (as pictured above) and if Turkey was offered the Tiger I and possibly any other German military equipment?

I can be reached here and (reliably) at [email protected]

Hello!

I have no idea if a Tiger was offered to Turkey or not but the picture was taken on 27th June 1943. A Turkish delegation lead by General Toydemir accompanied by Generalfeldmarschall von Manstein, General Kempf and Generalmajor Speidel paid a visit to s.Pz.Abt. 503 and 7. Pz.Div somewhere in the Charkow/Tschurgujew area

Okay thank you NagaSadow; that is really useful information! I wonder if the Tiger 1 was offered to Turkey since so was the Pz.Kpfw. IV also offered (and subsequently purchased by Turkey). Although perhaps the Tiger 1 was too costly for Turkey or other complications interfered? I find it interesting to wonder and contemplate about given that Italy, Japan, Hungary, Spain etc. were also given access to purchase German panzers for being cooperative towards Nazi Germany (with most offered nations accepting the offer and at least purchasing some panzers from Germany).

This event took place shortly before the beginn of operation "Zitadelle". German military power was shown to turkey officers. The intention was to convince Turkey about German military superiority so that Turkey maybe joins the war against Russia. According to a friend of mine (who took part) the show didnt workt that good that day and the German generals were very angry.
