I m8s. Have been away from scale modelling for more than 20 years. I´m restarting now with a nice Tiger from Academy, but have several questions for the "pros".
I took some photos from a french magazine. I wanted to do a winter theme with overall white over grey. His that possible with my model? Are the dates and color schemes from the magazine accurate? Early Tigers in 1944?
I prefer the first one, but the number 311 in the middle is nice. Is it possible to model it with some snow, without white paint applied?
Thanks so much and sorry for crappy English...
Early Tiger
Re: Early Tiger
As an old Tiger nut, I would do Otto Carius' Tiger "217" - Which is included in the decal sheet. However, that would be white over dunkelgelb, whereas you are looking to do White over dunklelgrau.
The switch from thedunkelgrau color base came around February, 1943.
You can go here to see a decent selection of color schemes for Tiger Is.

Re: Early Tiger
Thanks Takao. I´ve already passed my eyes thought Tank Encyclopedia and my Osprey books...so i guess none of the examples from the magazine are accurate?
Re: Early Tiger
Yes, there were early Tigers still operating in 1944.
The version in Academy's kit was never grey.
As for the magazine:
The 502 did have an "early" Tiger numbered 214 in summer 1943, and it did resemble this kit, but I don't think it survived until winter. They had a "mid" Tiger numbered 214 in the winter.
The 502 did have a "311" but there are no photos of it in white.
The 505 did have a "133" and it was whitewashed just like the magazine image.
