Hello, I am looking for ammo load for both 7.5 cm Pak auf Somua MCG and 7.5 cm Pak auf Hotchkiss-39 used by 21. Panzer division, I find nothing in many sources, I hope someone will help on it. Thank

Hi Kelvin,

I've no info for the Somua but some for the Sturmpanzer 7.5cm (Pak40) [ so chritened by Major BECKER].
The shells were stored in the open crate at the right rear (some maybe loose on the rubber mat on the motor compartment).

Just a point to note if you're doing a model : every kit (and even the old DOYLE's plan) has the same mistake, the angles of the front sides are not the same on the howitzer (more vertical) and the Pak version (more inclined).

Hope it helps,

Hi, Patrice, thank for additonal information.

Do you know if German used U304 to mount 7.5 cm kanone to replace sd.kfz.251/9 in Pz.A.A. 21 in June 1944 ? Thank

Hi again,

As far as I know the Unic P107/U 304 (f) never had a 7.5cm Kanone as it was too light for such a weapon, the heaviest carried were 3.7cm Pak or 2cm Flak 38.
BTW the PzAA21 had no SdKfz251.9 , the 5/PzAA21 had 3 X 7.5cm Pak, 6 X 7.5cm Feldkanonen and 2 X 7.5cm lFH18, all towed.

Cheers,
Patrice.

Hi, Patrice, normally I think U304 cannot afford a 7.5 cm Kanone but recent book tips of spears German reconnaissance force mentions 21. Pz division 's Pz AA 21 had U304 mounted a 7.5 cm Kanone, perhaps it is incorrect.

Regarding sdkfz.251/9, you sure Pz AA 21 did not have sdkfz.251/9 ?

The organization of Pz A A 21 seemed likely to be equipped with German SPW :

this is what I have :

1. kompanie : 16 x sdkfz.250/9 and 9 x 250/3 or 250/5

2. Kompainie : 3 x sdkfz 221, 7 x sdkfz 222, 8 x sdkfz 232 and 6 x sdkfz 233

3. kompanie : 28 x le SPW, 7 x mSpw

4. Kompanie : same as 3. kompanie

5. kompanie : 27 x mSPW OOB chart on June 1 1944 had 6 x 7.5 cmm kanone, 3 x 7.5 cm Pak and 2 x 7.5 le. I.G symbol. in theory, should be read like this : 6 x sdkfz 251/9, 3 x Pak 40 towed AT guns and 2 x le.I.G 18 towed guns.
It seems you have another doucment to suggest is towed kanone , not 251/9 ?

Is 21. Pz division have 251/2 mortar carriers , BTW ? Thank
