Takom, the modelling company are releasing 2 new models to the market of prototype Panther anti-aircraft tanks.
Would anyone know if any photos exist of these 2 prototypes?
Image is from Takom's release of the models.

There was just a mockup Coelian turret mounted on a Panther Ausf. D hull.

The turret with four MG 151/20 was only a Rheinmetall proposal of May 1943, never built.

Thank you for sharing. I didn't know. Looks like the mock up is a wooden mock up.Grzesio wrote: ↑13 Aug 2018, 12:12There was just a mockup Coelian turret mounted on a Panther Ausf. D hull.

Yes, the Coelian turret was wooden.
The quad 20mm version would've been practically unusable, as there's no direct vision for the poor Gunner. How's he see the target? Through a small view slit? That don't work for fighting low, fast jabos, you need wide views and awareness.
And the panther D had a turret traverse rate of 360° in 60 seconds, 6°/sec, which is too slow for AA work. The very successful M45 quad .50cal American AA system had electric traverse of 24°/sec. This is why the vaunted kugelblitz AA tank woulda been rubbish, it only had manual traverse, which wouldn't have been up to tracking fast moving low flying planes, its main opponents.

I heard Nazi were set on twin 37mm , since Quad 20 was not effective enough?
