Introduction of the 5-cm-KwK 38 into Pz III F / G
Hello,
has anyone some hard facts(dates) when the first PzKpfw III F / G with the 5-cm-KwK 38 got to the troops?
My impression is that it was after the Battle of France, but when was exactly?
With regards

The first vehicles (SdKfZ 141) with a L/42 were accepted in July 1940 (17 vehicles), converted F and in G series. Fahrgestell 65732 (Miag) is supposed to be the first platform outfitted with a L/42.Hello,

The Encyclopedia of German tanks says that the first tank to get the KwK 5cm/L60 was the Panzer IIIJ (141/1) starting December 1942. These were formed into new tank units in early 1942. While there is evidence that the PaK 5cm/L60 were used in Russia in June 1941.

Thanks but it's only about the short 5cm L/42.

Both F and G were adapted to the 5cm (new turret?) during their production run.
The comment regarding the L/60 variant is correct, just missing that those were redesignated to L in spring 43

Hillebrand gives the following dates of introduction, I assume this refers to the date of the respective weapon system reaching the troops (or being sent with replacements):Thanks but it's only about the short 5cm L/42.
