Panzerspähwagen II (Sd.Kfz.123) in Italy 1944

Post by Thyam » 26 Jun 2019 10:49

I want to build a force for Flames of War 4th Edition and I am trying to find out if the Panzerspähwagen II (Sd.Kfz.123) was fielded in Italy during 1944.

I know of K.St.N.1162b stating that the Luchs was formed into a Panzerspähkompanie, but I cannot find any information online regarding whether or not they were deployed in Italy.

Could anyone help out here?
Thanks

Hello!

Luchs weren't employed in Italy. Luchs were only used by Kavallerie-Brigade 3 and 4, 17. Pz.Div., 4. Pz.Div. and HG in the East and 9. Pz.Div. in the West.
Ordinary Pz II were used in Italy though. Sturm-Pz.Abt. 216 and maybe 114. Jäger-Division used some in 1944.

Dirk, according to the figures given by Martin Block, only 2 and 9 PD had full companies of LUCHS while 4. Kav Brig had five, HG had one operational with an unknown number in repair while there were three with the ErsatzHeer. Where did you find reference to 17 PD having them ?

Hello!

From a post by Martin Block back in 2010. It seems that Pz.Aufkl.Abt. 17 got 2 in Februay 1945 from unknown origins possibly the Ersatzheer. They were reported from 1st March to 1st April 1945.
